John The Baptist was in prison for the word that he had preached,
The Kingdom is at hand' he had declared
And he'd begun to wonder if the time had truly come
What with the Romans still in power everywhere
He heard the words of Christ and sent disciples to inquire
Are you the one to come as we have read
Or might there come another who will occupy the thrown
They listened to the words that Jesus said
